An initial psychiatric evaluation includes a detailed review of your current challenges and issues, medication and treatment history, medical problems, psychosocial history, and past psychological testing if available. Patients are encouraged to bring their past psychiatric records and prescription history. We also offer evaluations for patients that require a second opinion for their condition.

Our practice utilizes comprehensive psychometric rating scales, screens, and tests to aid in assessing and monitoring your condition. We take pride in our multi-modal approach to not only learning about the client but being able to offer an individualized treatment plan with long-term monitoring and re-evaluation.

Medication treatment options are available for certain conditions after a discussion with your provider. While not the only approach to care, medication management is the primary treatment option offered in our practice and can be helpful along with counseling to improve your overall functioning.

Our providers remain up to date on new medication treatment options and will be sure to inform you of all options available to you. We maintain our duty to educate you about the prescribed medication including the target symptoms and common side effects.

Southern Behavioral Healthcare offers pharmacogenomic testing (GeneSight) for our clients.

This service analyzes how your genes may affect medication outcomes. Results can inform your provider about how you may break down or respond to certain medications commonly prescribed to treat depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other psychiatric conditions. If you or someone you know has tried several medications with poor success or has had several adverse reactions to medications, this service may be beneficial for you.

This GeneSight test must be ordered by your provider. The test is a simple cheek swab taken in the office. Contact us today if you are interested in this service.
